  • 3 Speed OD Shifter Mount Plates Found!

I finally found a set of shifter mount plates for the T-96 3 speed OD tranny in my 63 Wagonaire!:

It was on Ebay, listed for a 49-51 Ford OD 3 speed tranny. I have a Ford transmission book from the 50's - there was a T-96 listed for the years covered. I took the chance and bought the setup for $60. It fits perfectly, including the linkages. It was made for a Mystery Shifter, but the Hurst Indy setup I had worked just fine. The only modification I have to make to mount the brackets is to drill and tap a small hole in the tranny case to mount the side bracket - it's for the hole on the lower tab of the silver plate in the photo. I assume this had to be done for the tranny in Fords too.

Here's a picture of the brackets assembled. The top hole is for the shifter pivot:

Here's the completed shifter in the car:

If you're looking for a floor shift for a 3 speed OD (at least a T-96), keep these pictures for your search. Unfortunately, I don't have a manufacturer or part number for the set.

If anyone knows of a shop that has one of those fancy automated plasma
cutters, I'd be willing to lend the pieces to anyone who wants to get the mounting plates copied - I'd like to get an extra set myself. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Excellent Scott! I know I sure like having a floor shift (T-86) much more than a column shift on my Transtar. [^]

        Mark,

I do like a floor shifter better, especially with a 3 speed. Now I can mount my Ididit column with tilt!
