  • Finally! I should get my Cruiser this month!

I wrote a while back saying I planned to buy a '64 Cruiser:
    http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...TOPIC_ID=25881
The money came in at last, and Joe Egle is still selling me the car!
I'll be heading out to Kansas City, probably right after Easter, and driving back. I'm taking a digital camera and a notebook and I'll be submitting the story. Let's see if Art prints it![8D]
Plans are to make this my daily driver. I like my old Ford truck, but that 352 is too thirsty![:0]

    '41 John Deere B All-Fuel

Studebakers were made to drive! (Besides, they don't get lost as easy in the Wal-Mart parking lot!)

      Of course!
My girlfriend, Nikki, is planning to help drive, and we'll take turns with the camera too. (Her first time driving a Studebaker!) Most of you will probably think she looks better with the car then I do! I would have to agree![8D]

You'll love that 64 Cruiser as a driver. Ask the man who owns one.

Or the man who has been driving a '65 for nearly 18 years...

          A good ride that'll be~ Enjoy the trip!!!! [^]

          Have fun.

                I made it home!
I love Studebakers, but I hate points!
The Cruiser's distributer is going electronic!

Yes, I took pictures of the trip. (Including break down and rescue!)
Still plan to submit an article!

Congratulations! I have always said that you know you have had fun driving one of these old cars when you drive back into your yard and it is still running.

Congratulations - Sure helps to build confidence by driving them for a good distance (even if there are issues arising).

So many people were calling me offering advice, I can't remember all the names! And Jim drove quite a ways to fix the car! So many of the members are willing to go out of their way to help! I've rarely seen anything like it!

A few bugs showed up on the trip. (Other then the points!) Found an oil leak at the front seal (Imagine that! A Studebaker leaking oil!) Power steering has a leak too. Valve noise, I think they need adjusting, and a strange whistle from the power brake.

On the plus side, the body is clean and straight, most of the paint should buff out great, seats show little wear and no tears that I can see, door panels look great, and so far I found no rust!

I'll get her in the shop in a few days and get my tags. I'm looking forward to driving her every day!

If that whistle in the power brakes is a vacuum leak, that will adversly affect your engine's performance and potentially, longevity.
