  • HELP!! DRIVABLE STUDE BEING SCRAPPED!

I saw this car at Lancaster; was driven in. Some areas of rust, but nothing terminal.

Seller listed it on eBay a couple times since Lancaster. Each time I've mentioned it here. I was high bidder on it once, and I believe the listing was pulled the second time.

Now, I am saddened to see her engine listed separately[V] Seller is apparently disappointed about not getting whatever he thinks he should be for it, and cares nothing about it; so he's going to junk it

From what I saw this car is a very decent driver candidate as it is! Could use a few patches here and there, but nothing dire. It's my favored combo, V8 3 O/D; lots of work already done.

I just plain cannot buy another car right now; I'll be selling off a few cars this year. But it KILLS me to see it junked! In a few weeks I might even decide to shell out the money, but that will be too late

So, if anyone can give her a home, please step up! If you want, I'll help with logistics; I would probably even be willing to go and get it for you for gas, and store it at my place FREE till you decide to come after it. Anything I can do to help!

    Here it is:

that's tempting if it doesn't go nuts; the current inspection sticker is a big plus for me.

I have no idea how/when I'd get it tho...

If I may ask, at what price did he pull it the last time?

I wish I could, too. The same fate happened to this one last fall:

Rather upsetting, but I've got way too many projects as it is, and I did my part a year ago saving one from getting crushed.

                  Me too- $1600[xx(]

I don't know what can be done now- that's too rich for my blood I wonder what he thinks that engine will draw, and what he thinks the rest is worth?

In a previous listing he said he bought this for somebody, and they decided they wanted a 6 cyl. Probably he thought he had a super-rare find and paid for the brake work, and can't accept he's now upside-down. Of course, it may all be just a ruse to try to tug heart strings... He doesn't show a reserve, but he didn't when I was high bidder on the whole car but yanked the listing on the last day.

Upside is, it passed a NYS Inspection which encompasses lights, brakes, tires, glass, steering; so it probably is very road-ready.

All I could think to do at this point is bid on the engine, so I did. I'm going to bid well and if I win, try to make a deal on the rest. Still not sure how high I'll go, but I am on it- and I intend to keep the car together if at all possible. I just can not pay 16 bills for it.

                  We'll see, I guess...

You sure it isn't already yours, Bob A. <G>. I see that it has a NYS dealer plate on it. Or were you just test driving it with your plate? I don't know your plate numbers.

I don't know how he figures to make out on this. He has a no reserve auction on the engine. If the engine brings $200 and he gets $50 for the rest of the car after he pulls the engine, it seems to me that he would be a lot better off just selling the car for $500. Maybe he is planning on putting a six in the car for the person that wanted a six and not a V8. I hope that they aren't wanting the six for perceived fuel mileage improvement. They would never drive it enough to make up any possible difference.

No, that's not my plate. I saw it drive in at Lancaster, but didn't hear it run.

As I said, I was high bidder on the whole car with no reserve when he pulled the listing. I suspect he's figuring the engine's going to do over a grand, and if not he'll just pull the listing right before the end. It's only a 3-day listing, so maybe he's just testing the waters...

Auction was ended because the item was lost or broken.
At that time, he was selling it for parts only. He should try selling it now as a vehicle with a title and current inspection. It would probably bring twice as much.
