  • Question on '64s

Was checking out a fully restored '64 convertible the other day and there was something on it I haven't seen before . It has a rubber bumper up on the body above the rearend ?? This is a totally stock car , my '64 Daytona doesn't have this bumper and it isn't shown in the parts book . Does anyone have any idea on these ??
I did take a couple pics of it if that will help.

    Here's a pic of it

It's a snubber and it was stock on the 4-spd cars. I took one off of a Cruiser awhile back. Chassis book. Look up Illust# 1521-7 then look below all the "BRACKET" listings until you see "PLATE and STUDS"

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

Did they come on a car if it was originally equipped with traction bars? I wouldn't see how it would be useful if the rear windup was contained.

They were used on all 113 in. wheelbase Sedans/Wagons, but not on 109 in. Hardtops/2 Dr's. unless 4 Speed equipped.

Man, that Convertible is not restored, it's ten times OVER restored! Amazing! []
The only downside would be, you could never get it wet, without undercoating. Wouldn't work in Washington, LOL!

there's no pic in the chassis parts book, and I don't know that I've ever seen one... does anyone have a similar pic of one installed in a C-K? Or better yet have the part they could sell me?

Pat Skelly's [u]'62</u> GT Hawk (4 speed car) has one...

I very carefully hacked around it to cut the floor pan off...
