wcarroll@outrageous.net That sounds like it would have been a fun build! The one with the twin superchargers has Air Ride as well, it's cool to see the car sit on the ground! I'm having one built, i don't have the mechanical skills...., that will have a TT rear end, Mustang II front, and a Stude engine hopefully making 300+ HP. I thought about going R2 or R3 but with the twin charged car and S2D with a Corvette 327, I want to build this one to drive. Good luck on your project and keep us informed! The twin turbo build would have been fantastic!! below is a video of the twin charged car but the video doesn't do it justice, especially while moving.

Sounds like you’ll have a nice flock!

And S2D must be Dick S.’s black hardtop?

The ‘53 I just picked up has a replacement 232 in it which seems to run well… enough 😎

If the motor checks out, I might try find a pair of 259/289 heads to wake it up a bit and install a nice intake and different carb.

I live on a small island with rural roads and HWY and do most of my cruising in the 40-50MPH range, so no point in getting too crazy.

If I can make the 232 breath a little better and improve throttle response, I’ll be a happy camper.

I want to stay Studebaker under the hood, but I do have a Dauntless V6 that’s rebuilt with some speed goodies sitting on a stand in case I need to build up a Studebaker motor on the side.

I figure since Willy’s Kaiser mated the T86 to the Dauntless in the early years of its offering,, it shouldn’t be too hard to mate up if for some reason the 232 develops issues.

Definitely will be going to floor shift now that I’ve swapped the interior with GT.

And if I pull the body off the frame (likely), I will duplicate the mods I did before as I like a stiff chassis, especially with all the windy roads we have around here. I certainly don’t need any doors unlatching themselves as they were known to do back in the day due to the “flexy” frame.

One thing is for sure, the little bit of neighborhood cruising I did in the car before dropping it off for shipping was kind of a weird experience.

My first car was a GT Hawk. I’ve spent many years looking over that hood and drivers fender line.

But the last 8 years or so my daily driver has been this, and I’ve been totally spoiled by its short front end and lack of body roll.

I think just getting the ‘53’s front end down a bit and eventually getting some wider wheels will help, along with the frame mods of course.

An X member from a derelict Wagonaire, convertable or Avanti will fit easily if the body is coming off, it will provide the stiffness you are looking for....you will have to loose the rear foot wells

wcarroll@outrageous.net That is the one and only S2D!! I originally saw it in Rod and Custom Magazine when i was in high school. I never thought I'd one day own it and when the chance came up, I had to get it. It's my favorite Studebaker in existence, it's perfect! I'd love to tighten up the frame a bit on it though as well, I'm considering adding some larger sway bars to it, I've read 70's Camaro swaybars can be made to fit and maybe that'll help? But I'm sure Dick is tired of me telling him how much I love the car he built. The twin charged car is on another level but S2D has a special place and my 4 year old nephew is already showing signs he wants it when he gets older. I wasn't planning to go body off frame with my build but it might be worth it to add the brace that Captain Billy just posted? this is the one of the 3 i'm going to jam down the highway to take away on the weekends or go on roadtrips with. so it might be worth it to increase the drivability.

and that 356 is fantastic!!! what a fun car to daily!! I bet it looks great sitting next to the '53 in the garage.
