  • Body Shop Costs…..thoughts on this work

So…. My 64 Cruiser already had rust on the door bottoms and a pair of “Studebaker Stripes” on the front fenders when I bought it in 1974. The South Jersey coast was not kind to it. Having done a true CASO job on repairs decades ago, I began to gather NOS body parts, still in factory primer. 2 front outer fenders, 2 rear doors, front drivers door, plus a passenger side.door from a 66 with no rust (chrome upper frame attached). ••••• The job is to remove my rusted doors and front fender outer, transfer door top frames, weld to door shells, transfer windows etc. Hopefully rehang doors and attach fenders correctly. Prime and repaint doors and fenders black. I’m not trying for show work here, there are two shops within a 1/2 mile of me here,in my small town, but I’d like to get thoughts on general costs before I talk to anyone there. Thanks

I can save you a really BIG job.

The upper door frames do not need to have their welds cut and removed and replaced with Daytona/Cruiser Stainless window frames!
You just very carefully remove the Stainless Window surround Mouldings and install on the New NOS Doors after Paint.

Well , yes but what I have are three NOS door “shells” in factory primer and No frames. The old ones on my doors need swapping out and welded to the shells, skillfully enough that all the spacing sand alignments are correct.
