‘63 Lark - Correct seat upholstery

Recently there was another thread here where the poster was wanting a source for authentic seat upholstery for his car.

One of the responses was that the car wasn’t worth much, and that a correct interior wasn’t worth the effort.

I completely disagree. My Lark had the seats redone a few years ago. The work was nice enough but the previous owner chose to use some plain red vinyl with 1980’s Ford cloth material for the inserts. And it bothered me every time I drove the car.

Before and after. I ditched the full bench in favor of individual reclining seats wrapped in NOS upholstery.

Much, much better.

100% Agee with you Matt. The original looks so much better. I could live with the non original for awhile but would have to switch to at least something period correct. Yours reminds me of my 1963 that I once had.

Authentic Studebaker upholstery (whether it be NOS or exact reproduction) really gets my attention and approval!
So Matt, when are you coming up to Minnesota? You can bring me your old bench seat. It would look good enough in my red Champ.

Matt, without seeing the buckles, those seatbelts in the top picture look original. Why did you swap them out?

More important is how nice the NOS seats look. This car with the skytop will be a very unique car.

No plans to go to Minnesota, and the bench seat had a new home before I pulled it out of the car.

Justin, the original seat belts are frayed and coming apart. I still have ‘em in case I ever decide to have the straps replaced.

I agree with the others, the original seat material improves the interior appearance 100%.
