Will a 54 4 door frame be the same as a 54 2 door wagon?

  • #2
They are in the 1955 models; don't know why 1954 would be any different.

I believe so, if the four door is not a Land Cruiser.

I don't know how to discern that. Here are the two cars.

Compare the two wheelbases. Land Cruiser had a longer WB.

The sedan pictured is definitely not a land cruiser.

That sedan would make a cool gasser...
& the wagon just as cool the way it is! But I reckon you're gonna make one car of one..?

I’ve always thought that if I ended up with one of those cobbled together 2 dr sedans I’d just HAVE to smooth over those useless rear door seams.
That, or mebbe cobble together my own suicide doors? Perhaps even dependent on the kindness of the front seat passengers, ala those Ford semi crewcab pickups?
Nah, better to just stick with C’s & K’s.

I would be tempted to extend the wheelbase and turn the two of them in to a nine-passenger Jetway limo.
                      Any photoshoppers out there?

If your going to go though all the work of a frame swap why not use a later beefier frame from a brand X? There are a lot of cars with a 117 in wheel base.

I put a 46 Champion on an S10 frame before. It caused quite a few problems that were a lot of work to solve. My thoughts here are I can pull that other frame and redo everything while working on the wagon then when the time comes to swap, it's just a bolt in deal.
