The Chattanooga meet would have been great. The location chosen was ideal. But, given all that is going on and the demographics of our club, it was the right decision to cancel. Thanks are due for all the hard work and planning.

Regardless of personal opinions we should all take a moment and thank all our friends from the Southeast for their efforts for the 56th International meet. Those of us planning the 2021 International meet have a new challenge, create an International meet to appease the absence of a year,(2020). The Indy chapter of the SDC is working daily to present a family friendly experience for the Studebaker community. This will include the Antique Studebaker group as well as the Avanti club. Indianapolis will welcome our Studebaker family September 8-11, 2021, please watch for details soon.
Thank You Chattanooga! We hope you come back for 2023.It is an addiction!

It is disappointing to have this meet cancelled, but it was cancelled for obviously good reasons and I totally agree. I certainly don't envy those that have to cancel all the venues, etc. That will be a monumental task. Thank you to all those that were involved in planning and now cancelling the meet especially Denny Foust who spends countless hours taking care of everything involved. Thanks Denny for all your years of hard work. One other item on my mind is the fact that anyone that wasn't even planning on attending or having ever been to an International Meet (or maybe one) or involved in any of the work that is involved should not be posting they see no reason for the cancellation. The members of SDC Board of Directors certainly have the health and well being of their members in mind. Thanks again to all. Now on to 2021!

With so many things to consider, I think that most have been addressed prior to this post but...
...as a geezer member, I am well aware that this "bug" might be seeking me out so out of an abundance of caution, I think that the decision was justified. But back in the inner remote regions of my still functioning central nervous system, I fear that this is only the beginning of a new way of life that may face us in the decades ahead. Our major competitors, (or outright enemies), now know just how easy it is to upset our apple cart, something that we all might want think about.
My plan is to go to the Indianapolis Meet next year... But is that too much to expect given the new facts of life???

James,
Looking back to my (ahem) younger days, our country has be dealing with new facts of life since JFK's life was ended. The war in Vietnam, Watergate, Iran Crisis,Recession ( any number of times) Iraq War, Impeachment twice, and now this. Yes, we cannot go back to the fifties; we can rebuild the cars that were from that gentle time with joy.
What the future holds and how it will be some may have the answers and some may have hot air. We don't know. I hope my personal circumstances will allow me to go to Indy. I hope also the country and world circumstances will do the same.
Here is hoping

I just cancelled my reservation at the host Hilton and the kind gentleman actually stated they were looking forward to the SDC meet and hoped we could reschedule for a later date. Hint, Hint, Nudge, Nudge 2023???)
Here's hoping.

As a new member of the Board, I can assure you that I agonized over the decision to cancel this meet. I also reached out to all the regional managers and our Zone coordinator in the PSW and we were all unanimous in feeling that we really needed to cancel this event. (yes, even 3 months out) The organizers of this meet, the ones that had the most to lose in this decision, were also included in making it. The decision to cancel it was unanimous and we expected to hear negative comments once the information was made public. I have just reviewed this thread and other than just a few members, the support from our membership has been overwhelmingly positive.
I really wanted to go to this meet myself but I sleep well knowing that we made the right decision.
Support all the hard work the good people in the Southwest Zone put in to planning this event and buy one of their T-Shirts. At least they can recoup that expense. I will venture to say that the good people in the SDC will buy up every one of them.Jon Stalnaker
