  • Speedster Registry

    With all the current interest in different registries I wonder if there is a Speedster Registry. I've been unable to find one and I'm curious how many of the 2215 survive?

    I am also interested as I have a speedster project nearly completed. also bought a dealer demo in 1956,probably the best car i ever owned.They were so special,i think thats why so many have survived. Jim Freed

      There was a Speedster regestery several years ago, but it is not active. I do have a copy of an early hand written one and a copy of a latter version. Thought about reviving it but think it's a vary labor intensive and don't know what the value would be.

        A search didn't do any good either. I typed in '1955 Speedster' and all I got was some kind of little furrin car

            Exactly what I was going to suggest. The information is still there (maybe someone - like me? - should scrape it for a new page). There is not a list of existent cars on that site - unless I missed it.

              Hi, I am a beginner stude enthusiast, working on a 52 commander hard top. When I bought this car it came with a lot of studebaker parts that I dont need such as a speedster front grill, fog lights, hood, tail lights, and a funny looking rear seat arm rest. If anyone here has any interest in them I really need the room in my garage.
              Any reasonable offer would be acceptable. I live in Murrieta Ca.
              Please let me know.
              Thanks,
              Dean.

                But they're both cool... I'm not aware of the Speedster name being used on a car I wouldn't own. I could say the same for Daytona until Dodge ruined it...

                  I emailed Francis Pavy and he advised:

                  ===========================
                  Henry --

                  There was registry once a long time ago before I got my speedster,I don't know who ran it or how many people were on
                  the list . -- I just put up the site when I first got my speedster ,
                  and yes I took it down not too long ago. The program I used to make the site is not being
                  used anymore and the site was starting to have some broken links and as the software was obsolete.
                  I couldn't get it together to transfer it to the next higher level.Plus I have other objectives now.
                  My site was never a comprehensive speedster registry, I only put up pictures of some people that
                  sent me some pictures and of those I know a few have passed on their speedsters to other owners .

                  So someone could start another registry. Put out an ad in Turning Wheels ,I'm sure you could get a
                  response. Somebody had to carry the torch.

                  THanks

                  Francis Pavy

                  ================
                  So it appears that there is a need for someone to resurrect a Speedster Registry. Volunteers don't need approval, Just do it!

                      Well...I grabbed another. I also copied the pertinent text on Pavy's site and have re-published it on mine. You can find it under "Articles"

                      I have a slot ready for 55 Speedster entries into the Registries, too. Of course, I don't have any data and that will need to be sent to me. (Help!)

                      Yes...I will forward information to the webmaster and Turning Wheels.

                            Thanks George, I appreciate your adding a Speedster section. When I clicked through it didnt come up; I'll try again. I'm well along in setting up a Speedster Blog and would like to link your regisrty if it's OK with you. Let me know.

                              You are most welcome to link to my site! Unfortunately, there won't be any content to the Speedster area of the registry until I get data for at least one car The category will exist...luring viewers...but it will just taunt you until I get a Cowl Tag (and speedster number) to add.
