"Disaffected Musings" compares Studebaker production to total U.S. production. The figures paint an interesting picture of the Sisyphean hill Studebaker had to climb.

The figures he uses to prove his point do not take into account a significant "abnormality". The 1949 model year production was quite short - only 7 months (the 1948 model year was 13 months long). Hence the smaller number of '49's made. Obviously, though, Studebaker demand held very nicely over the whole immediate postwar period.
