    Upadte... summer and fall home projects wrapped up, time to start back in on the Stude; Billy Gene. I have stripped down the original body (Gene) for what was salvageable and now have brought in Billy's 47 Commander convertible. I removed the 226 engine and steering column so I could test fit the 50 Champion fenders. For those wanting a visual you can see the 6" longer wheelbase of the 47 commander. How to fix that? My plan is to remove the stock 47 crossmember and weld in a new crossmember with rack & pinion steering. Have not decided on which brand to go on that but for now I'm just going to locate the correct centerline for the new crossmember and remove the 47 crossmember. Click image for larger version

      It appears that you do not have a Champion Wheelbase Frame to make the '47 Commander Body and '50 Champion Front end work.
      I think I would look for that, if your original '50 Champion Frame is too far gone.
