looks like Avanti values are going nuts too, over 20K for a cloned R2 with time left:

wow, very correct car? where are the s/c emblems body?
correct battery? leather interior? factory polished wheels?

how bout the paint blisters-flaking next to s/c.
however the car doe's look good.
    i have a pair of the s/c [nos]emblems I'll be happy
to sell to new owner for a cool grand!!

My point exactly. Paul Johnson recently sold a real R2 that was much nicer for that kind of money. It's at 22.5K with time left.

What I don't understand is, if you're going to go non-original, why keep the Powershift?

That said, it's a nice looking car, and if it drives as good as it looks... well, it's certainly more fun to drive than anything you could buy *new* for that price.

If you're going to customize an Avanti...why not use an Avanti II? You can do a lot with the engine & tranny..plus, it's not as "pure" as an original Studebaker...hense, no great loss of originality.

If you don't mind a frame swap. the driveline makes it a fair deal.( The bottom rail has seperated and looks like it was welded, but still pretty rusty)

I don't know guys, we've seen a lot of WAY worse cars sold for WAY too much than this one! I don't think it de-values it any adding the leather interior, must have cost $7-10,000.00 just for that! Hopefully it's ONLY real flaw, the flaking paint is not indicating poor paint prep anywhere else on the car. It is after all a PERFECT paint job. Little things like not adding the Supercharged Emblems and adding the R3 air box do not depreciate it either.

I have seen very few that actually had the undercarriage cleaned painted and detailed AND had not a nice original interior, but a PERFECT new one also. It's gotta be worth every bit of $22,500.00 and I don't see many original ones getting near that![^] As far as "Customized" I would not call it that at all! I see a correct battery, maybe he added the pics after you guys saw it. Of course I can't explain what he is talking about on the "FACTORY POLISHED WHEELS"! Must just be an just over zealous seller's agent or something. I am also not excited about those tires, they look like Perelli? or Michelin 1970's issue white stripe sidewalls, do they still make those?

Hey, it's not mine or a friend's (I WISH)!! I just think of all the ebay cars I and others have "picked apart" this should not be one of em. I sure would not kick it out of my garage! [] []Peace, Rich.

Well at the moment maybe you and Darryl are, but YOUR original post is what this is supposed to be about, so why stop?

I'm ignoring that conversation, cause I could care less about a non-Stude one...LOL

Actually, Avanti prices spiked and fell to a plateau about 2 years ago. There are many people who think that they are selling gold ingots, but well over 40% of the "sales" fail. I have new data to refresh that at http://sterkel.org/avanti, have to get off my backside and put up on the website.

Clutch fans were used on all Avanti powered cars.
