  • The face on the cutting room floor...

The story in Hollywood is forever about the actor who never quiite made it because his important scene in a movie got cut in editing. And so it was with my '65 Wagonaire in the latest TV commercial for Casual Male men's clothing. If you watch ESPN News, the Outdoor Channel, Oxygen, Soapnet, LMN, FX, and a few other channels from now through Christmas, you may see the commercial for Casual Male. If you look carefully in the middle of the 30 second spot, you may spot the back of my blue Wagonaire with the tailgate down - but don't blink or you'll miss it.

They spent about 5 hours setting up and shooting this segment and used only about 5 seconds of it. There goes my shot at my 15 minutes of fame! Interestingly, I'm not really part of their target market, since their clothing sizes start at XL and I'm way smaller. Well, it was fun to be part of taping it, anyway.

For those with no access to cable or if you lack high-speed vision, here's the scene:

My guess is that anyone wearing Casual Male clothes would be a tight fit in a Studebaker truck.

Therefore, Gary, you must be made in just the right size.
