  • '61 Lark VI Convertible on eBay - Omaha NE

    Pretty car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-...QQcmdZViewItem

Seller appears to have inherited when his brother died. Sad news. Anyone we know?

    Don't know the owner.
But I'll be watching this one....With intrest, Its only the 3218 car made after mine. Not as impressive as owning two in sequencial order.
Why do Studebakers multiply so easily? aaaaaaaaa the madness.

Its 61 with a diffrent 62-63 front facia and grill, as well as the hood. Must have all gotten replaced with the fiberglass fenders.

edited for price According to craigslist ad, they are entertaining offers above $10,000

That is pretty, though the '62 grille is a visual surprise...I wonder if this car would be of interest to the folks who'd been seeking a '61 hardtop on the forum recently?

JFSAG: didn't VI's all come stock with dual headlights in '61, instead of quads?

It was an option to have the quads, not sure the cost in 61.

If it had always been a local car here in Omaha I would suspect I would know about it but I don't. I have been in the local club 18 years and have never seen or heard of the car. I see it does have Nebraska tags on it but the brother that owns it now may have brought it into the state. Be glad to go look at it if someone is interested.

I know this car very well. The owner lived across the street from me a few blocks away from UNO. I have driven it plenty of times. The owner was an outstanding friend and one of the greatest guys in the world. At one time he did belong to the Cornhusker chapter. This goes back many years ago. I would think that Denny L or John C would recall the car and the owner. Joe bought this car in the mid 80's The last time I drove it, it was an outstanding ride. This car was in both of my sisters weddings and was very presentable. The family selling the car are very honest so I would suspect that the write up on ebay and pics are very accurate.

I had dinner with John C. tonight and did talk with Denny L. John C. did not have a good recollection of the car and Denny L. said he would chime in here later tonight. Evidently Joe was not too active in the Husker Chapter. I'll check tomorrows paper to see if it has a listing with a price which may give some idea of the reserve as the E-Bay ad said it was available locally.

I just don't remember the car. I faintly remember Joe having a car like this. I don't remember him ever bringing it to an event. Joe B was it about the time you were storing your 64 wagon in my barn before you moved to Minnesota?

Denny, it was about the same time. Joe's daily driver was white 65 Commander and this car was for special events. He rarely drove this car. Just enough to keep it lubricated, the tires up and the battery charged. And it was never driven in the winter. If my memory is working correctly, he had it stored in the Dundee area.

What is the going rate for a 61 Conv in this condition? Have any of these recently sold, for comp purposes?

NO. For the 1961 model year Larks, all Deluxe models came standard with single headlights (what you call dual) and the dual/double headlights (you call quads) were standard on all Regal models and optional on Deluxe models. Convertibles only came in the Regal series so they should all have dual (four) headlights. Being a six (VI) or V-8 (VIII) has nothing to do with the headlight situation.

EDIT: My comments above apply to stock 1961 Larks, not the modified Lark in this thread.

The Lark being discussed here is not listed in todays Omaha newspaper so if it is advertised locally as the e-bay ad states it is not in that publication today anyway.

Thanks for the thought, Steve. I asked them prior to this and they really want a nice stock 61 hardtop for sentimental reasons. I sent them a lead from a kind forum soul, so we'll see if it panned out. I'm due for a happy ending to something these days.
