  • Studebaker bands and songs

While Googling the other evening I went on a hunt to find bands/music groups that had Studebaker in their name. Here's what I found... the links allow you to sample their music. Some you'll like, others not so much.

Ralph Norton's Studebaker Champions (dixieland jazz)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CyKzpfI5HA

Studebaker John and The Hawks (Blues)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW9Ct...eature=related

    Stuedabakerbrown
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu9lV...eature=related

    Studebaker Blues Band (California)
    http://tinyurl.com/3sn58m

The Calhouns (short sample songs from the "Studebaker Rebel" CD)
    http://tinyurl.com/4mnx62

    The Studebakers (Germany)
    http://tinyurl.com/5yvs4k

Studebaker (new Jersey) Warning: fusion/punk style!
    http://www.purevolume.com/studebakernj

    Studebaker7 (Wisconsin) 50's-70's
    http://studebaker7.com/index.html

Of course, we all know The Calhouns' Studebaker music, our very own SDC Studebaker Band (sorry, no music link) and Studebaker John but I find it interesting that some of the others chose to use the Studebaker name.

Anyway, if you know of any other bands to add to the list AND if you know the name and artist of a song that mentions Studebakers, add it here jus' for the fun of it.

In the 1930's, there was Richard Himber's "Studebaker Champions" which Studebaker sponsored every week.

In the mid-seventies, there was a one-hit-wonder called 'Rainbows, Pots-of-Gold and Moonbeams' by the group Studebaker Hawk.

I can't seem to locate the cassette (that's right- a cassette!!!), but Don Kellogg from the North Puget Sound SDC did a StudeSong or two back in the day. Another member once put a slideshow together to go along with them, but I loaned that to a Family Member quite some time ago- I think... [?] [?] [?]

They may both be here somewhere, but I'm getting ready to move, so I can't find much around here these days!!! [:0] [V]

Billy Joel did a song that had the word "Studebaker" in it...
Drawing a blank on the title right now...
Soon as I start doing something else it'll come to me...

oh oh oh... It was "We didn't Start The Fire"....
Great song.. He list it in hs first series of words at the beginning of the song... cool video too...

Deceased musician/songwriter Warren Zevon wrote but never released his song, "Studebaker" but in 2004 his son, Jordan recorded it:

If you're an orchestra fan there's The Starlite Orchestra
(Apologies if there's a different spelling, lol)

I have their Space Trax CD from way back, of which they cover Star Wars, Star Trek, Independence Day, The Twilight Zone, and X-Files [)]

There's a cd out last year called WARREN ZEVON - PRELUDES: RARE AND UNRELEASED
It has Warren's version of Studebaker on it, I've yet to pick it up but will get it sooner or later, waiting for it to get cheaper, caso thing I guess.

                    Here's a review....
