  • Studebakers @ Hot August Nights

Just got back from Hot August Nights in Reno, NV. Had a great time as always, met a couple forum members too. Best part was having our 53 as our only car for almost a week. Crowds were a little smaller than before and there were some bargain rates on motels up to the week-end. Still a full compliment of cars though. There were a pretty good number of Studes up there, mostly modified. I did not get pictures of all of them but got a few including a few gratuitous shots of ours [8)]

The oldest one there was an 1881 buggy with V8 power!

    I found several 55s

A beautiful 60 Hawk with a seriously modified Stude motor stroked out to 341 cu in backed up by a 700R4

A couple custom 53s, Red one is ours

And here we are representing the marque on Virginia Street

I also made it out to the drag races at Fernley NV. This is a fun little outlaw strip. Elevation 4400 ft and the track actually runs up hill! My best time was a 14.69. This run I am against my buddy in his 500hp+ LS7 427 cu in Camaro

    Hope you enjoy

A guy came up to me at a cruise night Tuesday and told me about the red Studebaker he saw at Hot August Nights. Don't know if he was talking about yours Pat or the 55. Must have made an impression on him as we are in Nebraska.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Your red '53 is beautiful. I must say the buggy with the V8 is probably the only one around. Was it
            a Studebaker buggy?
