    Yes,

I posted a link to this some months ago. The car appears to be one of the legitimate styling studies ordered by Studebaker. I seem to recall that it was performed by an outside firm. There is a picture of this car or another identical one in either an old TW or one Reynolds' books (I'mpretty sure it was in TW). In that picture it was new.

I read an article on that car. It was for Studebaker but was built by an outside shop. The roof is from a T-Bird. It was on ebay a while back. It's a real 'Johnny Cash Special'.

I went to the site but couldn't find the Studebaker. What category is it under? The site reminds me of a very sad auction I went to a few years ago near Carlisle, PA. A Studebaker collector had died about 20 years ago and left about 200 Studebakers on his farm. They just sat there until the auction. Most were so far gone that a scrap dealer bought most of them for under $20.00 each!

Yes, that car was talked about in a TW article some years back--and that article did include a photo of the car when new or nearly new. Studebaker commissioned it from O'Chapps Body Works in South Bend as a pre-production (of course!) GT Hawk prototype. The roof is from a '58-'60 T-Bird, with a center section taken out (TBird roof too wide for Hawk body). While it looks goofy, it does have Stude historical significance. Too bad it's in such rough shape (at least apparently). The basic car is a '54 Stude although I remember that this "job" was done in '60 or '61.

Just as an aside, I remember a sort-of friend's Dad, who knew of my interest in Studes, say, years ago, "They bought T-Bird roofs when they did the GT Hawk". I had never heard that and thought it was so ridiculous, I about laughed on the spot. Well, he was sorta right, based on this one prototype, anyway!
