  • Can anyone provide a Studebaker for wedding?

I received this email. Arlington, VA is a little too far for most of our club members. Is there anyone in the DC area that is interested?

"I was hoping you provide some assistance. I am getting married on November 11th in Arlington. My finace would like a Studebaker car to drive us from the church to the reception. My Finance's last name is Studebaker and there is a distant family connection to the car makers. If you could provide me any information on individuals that own a studebaker and may be willing to assist. I fully expect to pay for this assistance. Thank you for your time."

This has been mentioned before, but some collector car insurance precludes being paid "for hire". However, a nice honorarium or gift certificate wouldn't be "out of bounds".

My car is a 2Dr. sedan And for a big Wedding Dress to get in and out of a 4Dr.sedan would probably be better. I'm about one hundred miles away which might be a little far to drive?

Studebakers look good in weddings. Here's my Stude:

The bride and groom presented me with a nice dinner gift certificate.

Yes, Studebakers do look good in weddings. I have used mine several times as in the picture below, however it is in need of a lot of work right now. It is leaking oil, transmission fluid and a wheel cylinder is leaking. Also the weather in a November wedding might not be great for a convertible and the top on mine is very ratty. I was hoping that someone in the DC area might have a older (47-52) Land Cruiser that could be used.

I would also try the Potomac Chapter. There are several potential cars in that group and some are probably right near you.

I emailed Bob Johnstone about this, but unfortunately we are having a chapter planning meeting that day and most people who would tend to volunteer for such a project will be there.
