  • Avon Studebaker bottles

I also have 2 of them. The first one I bought new in the mid 70s the other I got from a friend. I have seen them for sale at swap meets fairly often.

      Avon Studebaker bottles

I had a good friend yesterday find a 2 oz. Avon aftershave bottle, full, and inside it's box at a flee market store. (1951 wrap around window)

I've heard of these and I'm sure there are plenty out there. With the wisdom of the forum I ask, just when these were made? How many in the collection?

Just thought I'd pass along it's great to have friends out there that would think of my hobby and spend a couple of bucks to put a smile on my face.

I have 2 of them still in the box. I don't know when they were made but the label has AVON PRODUCTS, NEW YORK, NY 10019. Since it has a zip code it was after 1963.

They were made about 1971 and are fairly plentiful yet. Yu can find them full, empty, with boxes or without at most flea markets and certainly at all Studebaker swap meets. I usually have one or two on my table. This was what started my Studebaker toy and memorabilia collection. My fathe rgot one form a co-worker for me when I was still a kid and gave it to me at Christmas time. I still have that one along with a few hundred (ok about 5- 6 hundred) other Studebaker toys.

According to Hastin's Avon Collector's guide, that '51 model was manufactured in '75 and '76. Sold for $2.50. Current market value, bottle only is $6, mint condition with mint box $8. (Finally, something on topic that I actually know something about. I collect them.)

My advice would be that if you are not an Avon collector, only looking for Studebaker stuff, don't pay more than $5 for one. They are VERY common.

Was it the only Studebaker made?
No C/Ks, Hawks, Larks or Avantis?

Yes, it was the only Studebaker related product Avon ever made.

I still have the one that my (then young) wife surprised me with way back when, although I've seen a good many since, none other will ever be as priceless and unreplaceable to me as that one. Our 40th year of marriage.

Chuck Naugle, Arizona, has hundreds of them. I must have collected a dozen or so for him.

A gent in So. Bend has cast some in resin, neat, painted gold or any color if you order one.

I have seen them painted different body colors at flea markets and shows. A person could fill in the opening for the cap and make a copy of a 1951 pretty easily.

Thanks everyone, I knew there was an answer. Like I said a friend found one for me for $2. Lost treasure or rare collectible was not what I was after, but it should look good on the garage shelf.

Oh, I should say this is all glass, since some of you mentioned painted versions....no paint here.

I am also an Avon bottle collector, mainly the transportation series and have many cars. Bob Glasscock stated it correctly on age and value. I have started two Grandsons collection with the Studebaker but have only kept one boxed example.

I have five: one "Wild Country" full in box, two "Spicy" empty in box, one unknown scent half-full and one empty.
