Thanks Dick, I find these little details fascinating. Yes, I'm finding some things unobtainium.
I need a pair of taillight housings. Just good enought to be prepped and painted. Don't care if they are 53 or 54, but they have to be the same right? That should be doable.
As for the grill panel. I have a good one from a 55 sedan that I think could be cut and modified to fit the coupe, but it would sure help to have a picture of what the original looked like.

My 41 President has electric wipers, as did the Commander. Not positive but the some 39 models may have had.

At least around here, parkways were built to connect various parks. The parkways were meant to be used for a leisure drive, like for a Sunday outing to a day at a park. Now, the parkways are used mostly for commuter traffic.
Driveways are meant to be a means to get your vehicle between the road and your garage. I don't park on my driveway, except to wash a car.

I remember my 1940 Studebaker President as having electric windshield wipers.

rocknne10, Thanks, I don't have my catalog yet, and I missed that on the site. I know the 53/54 lenses are different, but are they interchangeable?
Grill panel, OK. sorry for the misnomer.
Anyone have a grill panel or a good pic of one?
The 53 54 C/K lenses are not interchangeable (the 53 lens won't fit in the 54 body and visa versa)

ANY front sheet metal part for a 53-54 C/K is VERY hard to find and expensive when you do find them. Keep networking and good luck.

I believe that part would be called the grill panel. I don't have my parts catalog here.

SI has the '53 C/K tail light lenses for $35 each.

    good advice as always.

I probably misnamed the part I need. I have the air dam (scoop)that goes below the bumper. I'm missing a filler strip above the bumper and below the grill surrounds. I have one from a sedan that looks close (too big)that I might be able to modify. Even a good straight on picture of one on a car, with the hood up would help.

Another mistake on my part, I just assumed aftermarket tail light lenses were available, but I have'nt found any, since the advice above.

No, not going stude correct, too much missing. Just hope to build a presentable driver and save the old gal from the crusher.

The sedan lights from SASCO appear to be diecast, which is the OEM version of the lights, good luck trying to modify. Not impossible but difficult. They are also $60. I'd look at Ebay, you'll find poor quality 53, 54, 55 C&K tail lights available for less if you want to fix and repaint them. Heck, you could have had several at reasonable prices at South Bend last week. If you are going to paint them, I prefer the 54 and 55 options. Your biggest decision should be based on the price you need to pay for lenses and how original you want the vehicle. My 54 will run the original housings with appropriate filling and prep for painting. They will be body color, which to my eye helps the fender flow. JMHO

Why do we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway?

Since all of the other questions have been fully answered, I will ask "Why do Generals sleep in private quarters and Privates sleep in general quarters?" And to ensure Studebaker content, I am talking about privates who by day are transported in Studebaker military transport trucks.

My '51 Coupe has electric wipers, but they are only one speed. My '53 was equipped with 2-speed electric; State and Regal models respectively.

A NOS "lower air deflector" for the '53 sold on Ebay a couple months ago for $1100. Used should be findable and, as mentioned, has been repopped in fiberglass.

The reason for parking on the driveway and driving on the parkway is because for the most part everybody always decides to drive and park in a way that I'm almost certain and probably right in thinking I am pretty sure that I don't know.
