  • Best GT hawk carpet kit?

Who has the best carpet kit for a Gt Hawk? Looking for someone who can get it to me with in a month or so and has a few options. Need door bottom carpet as well.

I purchased from SMS Auto Upholstery of Oregon for my 1963 Hawk. I ordered extra matching carpet to do my door bottoms, kick panels and rear package shelf. I was satisfied.

I ordered a set from Dave Thibeault,; he is currently away at the meet.
This is the 3rd set of carpets for 3 different Studebakers , I am pleased with all the sets.

You'd probably need another 1 1/2 yards. They do OK and are very reasonably priced

The Quality and Fit would depend on Whom they are getting it from.

Automotive Interiors is very hard to beat.

You looking in the Wrong portion of their Website.

Call 1-800 814-7533 ask for Diane, they will do a wonderful job on your Studebaker, I got one for my Bucket Seat '64 Daytona Hardtop and they even included a Power Shift box cover, VERY happy with it!

Order the Carpet Samples of your "Maybe" Colors, that is the ONLY way to be happy with the final result.
All Carpet Co's descriptions and on-line "Samples" of the Colors are terrible and never resemble the real deal.

I don't know if my carpet is original. My 64 Daytona has a loop pile carpet. Is that what the factory used?

Yes Loop is correct, most U.S. Cars of the '60's had that.

If you look closely at the original early-1960s Studebaker carpet you will find that it is loop pile, but it is a "fuzzy loop." It looks like cut pile at a distance. So, a modern loop pile carpet (that isn't fuzzy) might look less original than a modern cut pile.

I do believe loop is what was in the car to start with and I would guess cut pile was no available at the time. I'm not a big it has to be the way Studebaker built it kind of guy. If I can do anything to make it better and not break the bank I will. The cut pile looks so much better than the loop why would you even waste your time.
