  • OK, now what?

Well I did it. Went out and bought what my girl and I think is a very cool car, a '52 Commander sedan. Being a former (reformed) muscle car guy, I have no idea where to start with her. Not even sure where to look for specific info about the car. Is there a fender tag on these? I have been searching the sites for shop manuals but don't want to start buying parts and stuff for a car I don't have. Any advice is appreciated. Not to worry, I've got a thick skin. Many thanks!

    Welcome to the SDC Forum.
There is a body tag on the firewall under the hood, passenger side. It will divulge the precise model and trim level.
The Serial plate from the door post will tell us where your '52 was built.
You can order the original build sheet from the Studebaker National Museum to determine precise original options, color, etc.

Body Catalog, Chassis Catalog and Shop Manual are available in print or CDRom.

First thing to do is join SDC (see "STICKY" message at the top of this Forum topic page).
For $19.95 you will receive the best car club magazine in the world, filled with vendors, history, technical pages and Studebaker events happening near you.

Also see the "STICKY" explaining how to post pictures. We are all suckers for pictures. WE MUST HAVE PICTURES!
