    Sorry for your hiccups. I think the advise to keep spares on board is probably your best, albeit latent suggestion.

        Something to consider, since you have a “window” Delco distributor, which was only used in ‘60 - ‘61 V-8 Larks and Champ pickups. These distributors are large and don’t have much clearance to the firewall. I have seen, more than once, a broken distributor cap from engine movement when shifting from reverse to drive on an automatic transmission. Granted, the engine mounts may have been old and softened. One of my friends always had the bad habit of backing out of his driveway and shifting from reverse to drive without putting his foot on the brake. He had a ‘60 Lark with has less distributor/firewall clearance than a ‘61. After about 3 or 4 broken caps he learned his lesson.
        So, if you think you need a window Delco, use caution.
