I suspect there may be no standard but here are my questions. Paint items like drive shafts, tie rods, clutch operating shaft, differential, etc.
I understand the engine, clutch housing and transmission were all one color. Original engine was painted blue. I'm thinking everything else black. Engine compartment same as lower body color. In my case yellow.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks

Yes, that sounds correct, I would describe almost everything on the Chassis as Semi Gloss Black.

The underside of the bodies were Exterior Body Color usually with Tar based undercoating over that.

The '55 Power Train's were a "Special" shade of Dark Blue with only a touch of Green, called Alberta Blue available at Studebaker Vendors.

Valve covers should be silver, with Sweepstakes decal, if memory serves me correctly.

Just out of curiosity, if a '55 Commander was equipped with a 259 with a 4 barrel, would the engine have then be called a Passmaster and the valve covers painted gold?
        American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker

No, still Silver, only a President "P" Code 259 was Gold.

I think the Late 1955 259 Commander "Bearcat" 2 Brl. becomes a "Wildcat" with the 4 Brl. !
