  • Weasels and Cannons!

I haven't seen this site on here before:

    http://bigshotsofidaho.com/

Lots of Weasels (and other tracked vehicles), guns, and a little cheesecake. I found it while searching for OD tranny info on Yahoo. Go figure.

Looks like a fair amount of aftermarket equipment (bolt-on) in some of those photos!

For some reason, Ford sixes seem to be a popular swap into Weasels that are owned by non-Studebaker people, and those who not concerned about authenticity from an MV standpoint either. Maybe they simply fit the space available better than do Chevy sixes.

Apparently, Studebaker tried powering a Weasel with a Commander six, and determined that there nothing to be gained by it, at least from a standpoint of military usefulness. The driveline and tracks can handle only SO MUCH horsepower.

If I were going to do an engine swap into a Weasel, I'd look real hard at a Nissan 4-cylinder Diesel, or something comparable.

I saw a Weasel quite a while ago for sale with a Volvo four cylinder engine w/ a turbo. Don't ask me why you would need a turbocharged Weasel. In this case I would just as soon have the Champion six.
