  • Flathead 185 Six Bearing Part Number?

For a flathead six, what bearing size is center main # 1555621, and rear main #533913?

Also by chance does anyone have a NOS set of .030 piston rings and/or standard rod bearings?

Hi Anne; I don't know if this will help but I checked my Stude. replacement parts book and found that these parts of the Main Bearing set are all the same 1955 to 1964 on all small sixes.

The Rod Bearings are all the same 1939 to 1964

The Rings are all the same 1939 to 1963.

Meaning that the 185 is not really "special" or peculiar!

The question is: What size bearings are #1555621 and #533913. Are they standard? .010? .020?
        Thanks

Hmmm...OK I thought you wanted to know how many inches they measure, and I don't have any to check! If that is what you want it's not looking good!
I checked '55-'58 Chassis and '59-'63 and the only detail of the Set that had a part number was the rear main and it's number is not even close. The Intermediate center ones are NOT listed. Anyway NONE matched any number in the indexes. So I guess they were not sold separately, so would not be listed, even though they I.D. marked them.

You will have to "MIC" the crank to find out what is needed. Or install them and Plastigage them.

From the Shop Manual (1953) the main bearing is 2.437 to 2.4375. Doesn't matter which bearing.

Wrong engine Tom, the 185 c.i. Six started in 1955, and had larger Main Bearing journals. But they do want to know what oversize (or not) those part numbers of the individual bearings in the Set that they apparently have, are!

My old N/A catalog doesn't show either number in the cross reference, no cross reference from SASCO either. Do you have the part # for the kit they came in?

They are just loose bearings - not in a kit. Each one is stamped with a seemingly Stude part #.
