    I polished and painted/clear coated mine at least 40 years ago. It still looks good, but it sits in the garage, too.

    Some of the later service replacements were made from painted stainless steel rather than brass, but carried the same part number.

    BTW, has anyone been able to take an old one off the car without breaking the stud?
