If you are wondering why rusted out gas tanks are fairly common on ‘63 and later station wagons...note that the end of the rear drip rail is directly above the gas filler location. There was a Service Bulletin about this - a deflector was designed to fit behind the gas cap to help channel away water. The deflector was installed on later production cars and was available to install on prior models. Many years ago when new Studebaker gas tanks were available, I sold more for ‘63 and later wagons than all other models added together.
