  • What Year is this Champ Pickup?

Someone in Illinois saw this Champ in the junkyard the other day. It looks like it might be worth restoring, if the bottom rust isn't too bad.
I'm just wondering what grill is in it, and what year the Champ is? Thanks, Tom

The truck was built between 1960 and 1962. The 1963 and 64's have hanging brake and clutch pedals. The grill has to be from a 1959 to 61 Lark. Bud

The 1960 models had three indentations above the rear window, which this one lacks. The trim on the right front fender is not the funky 1961 "kick up" style, so along with Bud's spot-on analysis, I'd say it's a 1962 7E.

field truck or lawn ornament only..... unless you've got 2-3 parts' trucks out back...

Looks to be a 7E5-122, 3 sp/OD. VIN should fall between 132601 and 135600. As Jack mentioned, might be good for just ornamental purposes. Floors would be the determining factor. If it can be picked, factory rear bumper (and its brackets), should be saved. If the padded dash does not have any holes or cracks, it has value as well.

Yes, the wide bed and lack of the 'kicked up' moldings, along with the non-suspended pedals inside, indicate a '62, the highest-sale year for Champ.

That has to be the FIRST for a backwards Grille swap!

You see a few '59-'60 Larks with Champ Grilles installed, but I have never seen a Champ with a '59 Lark Regal Grille before.

The '59 and '60 Grilles Both fit with or without the Regal Surround Moulding, but a '61 is a No Fit, being narrower and Longer.

A '59 Lark Grille and Regal Moulding with a '59 Lark (Hawk) Ornament in the '60 Location, on a '62 Champ Truck.

The grille texture looks like a 59 Grille. I see what looks like the accessory oil pressure & amp gauges in the area usually found for the radio. If those are what they appear to be grab 'em

I would like to put a Lark grill on my 62 Champ if it would fit

'59 and '60 model Lark grills will fit without any modifications - bolt on change - good luck.

In my opinion, it is only worth scrap metal price.

When they return - ask if they could take a photo of the VIN plate so it can be added to the 7E registry. Thanks.
