  • floor console 65 Cruiser

I have a 1965 Cruiser, and would like to know if anyone has built a floor console. I have a bench seat, and would like to get a console with cup holders, a spot for a CD player, and a bit of storage. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have plans? The choices on the internet are either not what I'm looking for, or are WAY to expensive! Thanks in advance for any help!!

Back in the 60's we had a small garbage can that sat on the trans hump in front of the bench seat. Attached to the bottom was some fabric wings full of a heavy material (lead shot or sand etc.) which hung over the trans tunnel sides holding the can in place. It would be easy to make what you wanted.

Get some cardboard and tape. Cut and paste until you have what you want. Then transfer it to wood or use fiberglass. Any decent upholstery shop can cover it to match the interior.

I had one of these in my '78 Malibu in the late 80's. It's probably around here somewhere. I wonder if there's room enough for a radio in the bin if there's no tissues in front. Something in the cups might splash in to the radio so probably a bad idea. I guess it's considered "vintage" now.
I have something similar in my '64 but it doesn't have the bin. I got it at Autozone or some flaps store.

I bought one of these under dash radio mounts but never tried it yet.

I have modified one from a 63 Galaxy. Looked pretty nice. But was for Bucket seats.
