Just curious .. My lark is just about finished, does an avanti chassis with the x member fit under an early lark sedan?

I don't know for sure, now that you mention it. The frame is the same and the wheelbase is the same. Now then, the convertible Lark frame is the same, so perhaps the sedan would fit also. Others may chime in...

The frame will "fit", but the tall saddles on the rear will need to be removed, and the last six inches of frame rail and original Lark rear cross member that were cut off at the factory put back on. Also the large side outrigger brackets, firewall mounting brackets, radiator support brackets need to be whacked off. And the modified front leaf spring bracket needs unmodified. And, if you plan on installing the traction bars (radius rods) the Larks use a different front mounting bracket for body clearance. This work needs done even for use on a convertible. Just to mention a few items.

Oh yeah, and you will need to use the Lark body/rear engine support cross member as well.

Easier to just stick with a Lark frame for a Lark. If more strength is desired, welding in additional cross-members or an X member is not all that big of task. Any real hard core performance activity is going to require a certified full roll cage no matter what the chassis origins. Might as well start with the lightest 6 frame and weld in 200 lbs. of strategic reinforcements. JMOP

Thanks for posting the llink to the pictures. I forgot to list the fact that the frame also has a very nice exhaust system installed in it.
