Hawk at the 2017 Mille Miglia

Hi folks,
I've just found this pîcture of a 1956 Golden Hawk that ran the Mille Miglia this year.
It has Belgian license plates. I wonder if the additional fog lamps were still in one piece after the race...

Looks like you're right Joe; didn't even get a chance to look at the website to see how much was being asked for it! There's an awful lot of white in that interior... and I'm not sure I'd be very comfortable racing with a complete plastic interior. If I was new owner, I'd consider changing out some of the plastic for some cloth to making racing just that little bit more bearable. I see the car lacks power brakes, so nothing like building up the right leg muscles too, lol

Mille Miglia 2017

Hi, I am the owner of this 1956 Studebaker Hawk. This is not the car which participated earlier in the Mille Miglia. I purchased the car in 2016 in the US and brought her up to the rally condition with the help of Perry Price. The car was partly restored by Allen Bart out of Washington State and the engine redone. The Mille Miglia in Italy is one of the biggest rally events in Europe, it is like a driving museum. The cars are unbelievable and rare? Mercedes send cars out of their museum as does Ferrari (look at you tube).
It is extremely difficult to get with your car accepted for this rally. The car needs to be stock as from the factory, that is the reason why I had to change this car from it disk brake conversion back to drum brakes Same for the electronic ignition we had to change it back to original.
Finally, the car was inspected to receive its FIVA papers. Without these papers, you will not be accepted for the rally. When all this was done we could try to send in a subscription and finally we were accepted. We drove the 1000 miles on the Italian roads like we have never driven any rally. During the rally, nearly everything is allowed to do. We drove through red light, drove twice the speed limits in cities and were escorted by cops on motor cycles in the middle of a crowded narrow two-lane road, passing other cars over 90 miles per hour! Unbelievable and the spectators were clapping and shouting. That is only possible in Italy. We drove over small mountain roads and trough small villages where we hardly could pass with our big American cruiser. It was a superb rally and the Stud did give any problem and yes, the fog lights are still in one piece. We were one of the few cars that finished the rally with only checking the oil and water levels!
The car is now up for sale and is eligible for the 2018 Mille Miglia as she has already participated. I can help with all the necessary information about the Mille Miglia and a professional service crew. An experience you will never forget.

Great Golden. In case you haven't heard, Allen Barth recently died. He was restoring my 58 Packard, the last car he worked on.

The spectators loved the car, especially the colours and the sound of the V8. The other racers didn't make a statement of the car. There were 3 other american cars, a 1953 yellow Lincoln, a 1956 blue Pontiac and a pink Ford Thunderbird. The Hawk behaved very well, we had no problems what so ever. The only thing important is that you know how to drive an automatic transmission in the mountains. This was one of the best rallies I have ever done. The price quality ratio is super. Very well organized, thousands of spectators who are chearing, clapping and singing . You go through small old villages where you normaly are only allowed on foot, very impressive. NIce food and good 4 or 5 star hotels.
