It sounds like the new tires worked well on both cars. Did Ted run F70-15s on his car also? Is there an opinion of which tire is better (235 radial, F70 radial or bias ply)?

Yes, I ran the F 70 bias tires on the Tomato but too early to tell yet. Getting a lot of info from others but so much is opposite of what others say. For example, We've heard on both the bias and F70 radials to use air pressure all the way from 45 pounds to 20. We're still experimenting.Originally posted by 61Lark View Post

Was told to burn them good and put the fronts on the back and burn them good also to make them round. I really doubt this will do that but going to give it a try. If the bias set very long they seem to develop a flat spot and takes a few miles to get that corrected.
On the Wrapper taking the average of the 60' times throwing out the best and worst, the average was 2.3. On the Tomato the average was 2.4 but had some really bad spinning on some of them. Once they start spinning you almost have to get completely out of it to get them to stop spinning. We averaged better time with out Firestone Indy Fire Hawk radials but not a lot better so maybe with more experimenting these will do as good.
We can tell you the FAST cars use these tires (most are bias at this time) and they tell us they don't hook at all until they get practically ALL the tread wore off so they are almost like slicks and then they hold very well. Of course we can't do that at the Pure Stock races. They HAVE to have a minimum about of tread left.

An alignment shop in Tucson use to put the wheel and tire on a machine, as if they were spin balancing it, and run it over a cheese grater drum spinning the opposite direction to "grate off" imperfections, then final balance.
