  • 1963 Detroit Autorama Show Car on eBay

Has anyone seen this auction on eBay? The price caught my eye, but then I read about the car's history and R3 engine. Was this car equipped with the R3 at the time of the Detroit auto show, or was that a modification done later?

The ad description reads "Retro-fit R-3 Granatelli engine".

Right. But some cars were retrofitted with R3's after assembly by Studebaker (especially round headlight cars) and some installations were done after the cars were in private ownership. I was curious if the car was equipped with an R3 when it was displayed in Detroit.

The R3 engine was not available until August 1963. That was probably too late to be at the 1963 Detroit Auto Show.

Not an unheard of price, but not the best place to find people with that type of money to be advertising. They look for exclusivity. Take it to someone with marketing skills, and the contacts. pay your commission.
