  • Drive Your Studebaker Day Car Flag? -- Your Opinion

At the South Bend International we asked folks about offering a Car Flag with the IDYSD logo. Now we would like to gauge your interest. The Car Flag "The SDC Store @ The Museum" has selected is one of better quality imprinted on both sides. Cost depends of quantity but it would be $20 or less.

It gets my vote. I would proudly fly it. It would help draw attention to our cars (not that it is a problem anyway).

Bob, I'd buy one! Actually I'd buy two, my brother would proudly fly it in his Avanti. Thanks, Bill.

My concern is that the flag will not be legible enough to spectators when I am driving my Studebaker 100+ mph...

Your concern is legitimate, Brent. I am pretty sure these particular car flags are only VR (visibility rated) to 90 mph (144.894 kph).

I like it but I'd have to duct tape it to the window of my convertible. Would it work on "hard tops" with the window trim around the glass?

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe they could come up with a way to mount it to the vent window as all the cars have that. That way even if its nice enough to roll the side windows down it would still work.

How about mounting it with a suction cup that could be placed on the roof or the trunk? This way too, you could put your window down. September can still be a bit warm and most of our cars don't have A/C.

Would rather have a magnetic sign. I see a lot of this type of flag laying along the roadways.

                            To answer some questions...

I am sure the masts are offshore. The flags would be printed in the US.

I looked at the magnetic car flags and the ones I found were only 4" x 6" whereas the window mounted one is 11" x 15.5". Besides, don't want to exclude our Avanti owners.

I found a couple suction cup mounts but like the magnetic mount they only accomodate a small flag.

Yes, a vent window mount would be ideal. Couldn't find one.

There are flags that simply use the vehicle's antenna but I would fear that under the high speed driving Studebaker folks are wont to do the antenna mast might bend into a 90 degree angle.

For those not familiar with "all the cars", vent windows first became available on Studebakers in 1937. Tom
