  • April '17 Collectible Automobile article

Has anyone seen the article on the Studebaker-Porsche project?

Just a small thing, but I am absolutely certain the artist of the rendering on pages 28 and 29 used the Studebaker dealer building in my hometown, Carl E. Filer Co., Greenville, PA as the foundation for the Studebaker dealer in his artwork. It is almost dead-on to the real building, and I've never seen another Studebaker dealer building that looked like that. It was a local design and construction job, my friend Ed Filer has told me.

I sent Ed and his son copies of the drawing.

    Small world indeed.

Bill, I agree with you on your observation.

Good article too. I had read a little bit about the Studebaker-Porsche project in other sources, but this article was very thorough. Collectible Automobile is a great magazine. I suppose I should subscribe, but I usually just buy a copy from the newsstand when they do a story on a car that I like.

I agree, it was probably the best account of that Studebaker-Porsche joint project.

Go to the third "dot" in the preview for the drawing of the Stude dealer in the article:

That's pretty cool, Bill; a certain likeness, for sure. BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

          Ayn Rand:
"You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality."

          G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.
