  • Minneapolis streetcar with 50 Champion convertible.

    https://us-mg5.mail.yahoo.com/ya/dow...Y3M19uLmpwZw==

    Here is a damaged Minneapolis street car with a 50 Champion convertible in the background. It shows the correct rear window in the 47-51 Studebaker.

    You can also see the frost shields on the street car windshield. These had a dead air chamber inside, so that they would not frost up. The older prewar cars with flat windshields would often have them installed.

            Well...I cheated...I'm not the guy to thank. Our member Studedude is the one to thank. He posted it in the "Studes in Roadside Americana Photos" thread and I merely copied & pasted it here.

              They stopped running streetcars here in '54, so that photo was near the end.

                When I lived in El Paso from 1968-1971 the old streetcars were still in service, and only cast a dime to ride. I'd bet they are all history by now. I can still remember when I first saw El Paso in October 1968 my first thought I entered a time warp and went back to 1923. I liked it.

                  "out in the west Texas town of El Paso, I pulled the studs off a Clinac 18."

                  Those aren't the exact words, but that's what I did.
