  • '53 or '54 C Body Spotted in Franklin NC Today

My son, who lives in Franklin NC (way up in the NC mountains near Cherokee) spotted what looks like a '53 or '54 C body Studebaker this afternoon.

    Anyone know the car?

With the distinctive paint job (which I think looks great ), it should be easy to recognize.

Looks like a Nice '53 Champion C5 Coupe with Factory Backup Lights, no idea where that came from or who may own it.

That's the first time I've seen such a paint job, but it does look good.

Years ago, I saw a similar color/paint scheme on a car for sale in Landrum, SC, which for the region, isn't all that far from where this pic was taken. Back then, the car I saw, was in the hands of a "wheeler/dealer" used car salesman who had put a ridiculous price on the car, and in conversation, revealed he really knew very little about Studebaker. I don't think this is the same car though. I believe the car I saw was an early finned Hawk.

Because of the rig this car is sitting on, I'm thinking it might be on a "hauler" delivering it to a new home. Perhaps the driver decided to make a stop at the nearby Cherokee casino. Hope he keeps enough money to finish the trip.

I don't know the car but a fellow from here in California just moved to NC and I think it was Franklin and he builds race cars out of 53-54 coupes and the last 2 I had went to him the first was the 54 commander and right now just got a check for the 53 champion so will be getting it off soon. I don't think Franklin is very big so the car might be his.

Was for sale at Bill Wisemans in Marion, NC a year or so back. I THINK it was a 55 but it has been a while since I looked at it. Seems it was small block Chevy powered. Nice custom. If I didnt post pics here I have them at home. Steve

My son said the car was at a small car lot, so he will check to see if it's still there. It does look nice, I like the color and paint scheme.

Keep repeating: I don't need another Studebaker, I don't need another Studebaker, I don't need another Studebaker...................

That looks like a car that was recently on ebay. The color scheme was the same as well as the colors themselves. It had a good-looking, matching interior. It seems like it was at ar und $12,000 the last time I looked. I found one picture.
