  • How many times a year does your local chapter hold a meeting ?

I was wondering how many times a year do you hold a meeting ?, we meet 11 times a year and skip January because of bad weather , do you have your meetings at the same place or different places of interest ?

Our chapter meets 6 times a year at a different place almost every time. In central Texas we are a scattered bunch so the meetings move around to try and make it easy for everyone to attend a meeting close to them at some point. My usual drive to a meeting is between 75 and 125 miles each way. Some drive even further.

Twelve is the norm. Some meetings are at restaurants, some at car shows, some at local museum or other attractions. Our chapter members also fraternize outside of club events - enjoying meals together or just hanging out.

The Foothills Chapter holds theirs the first Tuesday of each month. In July and August, we usually go for tour of one of our newsletter advertiser's business in place of a formal meeting.

The North Texas Chapter meets monthly and various locations always starting at noon on a Saturday. I wish it was a week night, it ties up almost an entire Saturday depending on location. My Corvette Club meets first Thursday evening each monthly. Seems to be a perfect time. Nice dinner meeting starting at 6 and on way home by 8.

Karel Staple Chapter meets once a month, usually on the 3rd week-end. Mostly on Sundays with a few Saturdays. Our meetings are mid day starting at 11. We mix it up with pot lucks at members homes, restaurants and museums or other places of interest. A different member acts as "Host" for each meeting and coordinates with the venue if it is not their home. Because our membership covers a large area, we try to have meetings at various locations. Gives us a chance to drive our Studebakers! We set our schedule every November for the following year. That way we can get it listed in Turning Wheels.

Pat I like the way your club does things. Just having all meetings at some restaurant every month gets kind of boring.

Studebakers of Arkansas officially meet 6 times a year. Because most of us also attend the Orphan Car Show in Branson in September it is almost a meeting for us also. I have been trying to think of a way to get SDC members from the southern part of the state to participate at least occasionally.

Keystone Region Chapter has some sort of get-together every month, with one get-together each quarter including a "business meeting". Each March we have a Planning Meeting, where the members bring their suggestions for the following 15 months. Activities, dates and locations are voted on and a volunteer will be assigned responsibility for the arrangements. At least two of the activities are Spring and Fall Tours, a two or three day excursion that can include substantial travel and overnight stays. Tours never include business meetings.

The Sequoia chapter (north half of California, minus Sacramento and environs) has one business meeting per year. At that meeting, members sign up to lead a tour or put on some sort of a meet. There generally is one for every month.

It's the best of both worlds, only one boring business meeting per year, plus monthly activities.
