  • '53 Red Convertible in Omaha

Hey everyone, attended the show and saw a bright red '53 convertible - white top, white interior, chrome wire wheels. Interested in finding the owner of the car, photos of the car, or the magazine that the car was featured in. Anyone have any info? Would be greatly appreciated!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it belongs to Steve and Carol Hudson. It's a custom job, Studebaker never built them that way.

Thanks for the info!! That's the one! Any idea of how to contact the Hudson's? Or where they are located? Are they club members?

Studebaker did build one 1953 convertible that was upgraded to a 1954. That car still exists. There are other custom 1953-1954 convertibles around.

That car was also featured in Turning Wheels not too long ago- but I can't seem to find it right now, sorry. It is an awesome car, that's for sure!!! There are many other convertibles that have been built on that body, but I don't think any of them can even touch this one. Customs, yes~ they all are, but Carol's looks so good it could be the way Stude would've done it!!!

If it's the Hudsons' car you saw, I believe it started life as a 56J that had an unfortunate incident with something (tree?) falling on the car and crushing the roof. There used to be a web site up with a few photos of the build of that car, if you feel like searching for it. As stated before, it was also featured somewhat recently in TW. Beautiful car, although I haven't seen it in person.
