  • Special Interest Autos of St. Louis AKA Bob Johnson's Studebaker

How many of you remember Special Interest Autos of St. Louis whom use to be a Studebaker Vendor. The former owner, Bob Johnson, has worked for Packard Farms and Studebaker International now for a lot of years. While Bob is seldom seen at meets, I understand he will be here in St. Louis working the Studebaker International swap area. Lets surprise Bob and all stop by to say hello even if you do not need parts this time around.

If you remember Bob Johnson and SIA, you probably have one of his famous catalogs!

To directly answer your question - Yes, I do. That is a while ago - maybe 1970s-early 1980s.

A good guy, with a lot of good stuff and fair prices. Just took the burlap wrapper off a truck door that he had shipped to me in 1980.

I dealt with S.I.A. right up until 1997 or 8, until they sold out to Packard Farm.

I think I still have a S.I.A catalog buried someplace in my stash of obscura. I think, in fact, they supplied the exhaust system for my Rockne. So long ago to remember.

Yes, I sure remember buying from Bob at SIA. Bought a lot of parts from him. I too still have my SIA catalog as pictured.

What was the name of the other guy at SIA??

I still find boxes around here with his address. I remember a few IMs where he would have a tarp with unidentified parts at a low price for anything in the pile. I got some real deals because I recognized stuff I could use.

Always liked his ads in TW. Both a lot of things from him. Was sad to see him go away. Had never heard what happened to his business.

Bob will be here on Thursday per Ed Reynolds. Bob sold out to Packard Farm and went to work for them.

Yep, remember him well, I got lots of Parts from Bob, especially all the special LITTLE stuff that Newman & Altman did not want, and I believe sold off to Bob by the pound, loads of Moulding Clips etc.

Ray Gibson owned the company but I think he sold it to Bob later.
