Maybe few notice it, or maybe few use it, but I just I found out that every time I like a post, the person who posts gets a message. One member wanted me to stop sending him messages, and I did not realize that this was happening.

Keep it in mind if you choose to use the "like" button!

I have had some of my posts 'liked' but have not received any related messages. Perhaps there are settings related to an auto-reply message.

What you didn't know is that the repeating message being sent is "Your vehicles warranty has expired".

Nah, that's not the point. We had a bit of a disagreement, and in the attempt to make amends, I used the like button on things he posted that I agreed with. Little did I know, I was being annoying to him. (oops, did I out him by saying "him"?)

Anyway, I hope he sees this and knows I was actually trying to move beyond, but this was not the way as I now know.

Exactly so - anyone who does not "like" receiving "Like" notifications can go to their User Settings page, and in the Notifications tab, unclick the "Likes your post" checkbox in the General section - and you won't get those anymore.

It turns out that something more evil was happening. Technology. Apparently he got a dump of likes and messages all at once, 15 or 20 I think, most of them likes from me. We're good now.
