Does anyone know of any chapters in our family have passed away . Any chapters been replaced or chapters reserected after death ???? Just curious that's all .

The Ontario Chapter has had a good run (and still running well) - since 1972 - but has "moved" twice!

At inception it centered in Toronto - until 1979, when activities bent in a westerly direction to around Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge. That lasted about 20 years and a bit until it took a decidedly eastern swing and is now most active and ably run by members in the 401 corridor from Belleville-ish to Kingston-ish. Very luckily, when the activities to the west were about to wane, the guys to the east were ready to carry the torch.

Just a matter of people taking the reins, then life takes them in other directions, then back again, etc.

Toronto is, in fact, and unfortunately, a barrier to east-west travel with slower stock vehicles. It can be done, but it takes a little planning and a sizable northerly detour from Toronto's fast multi-lane express hiways. Likely many other chapters have similar problems with sprawling cities. This barrier is mainly why (plus the sheer distance) we have few activities jointly attended and organized by the Hamilton and Ontario Chapters, but it does thankfully happen successfully when weather, location and the size of the meet (like a zone meet or other special occasion) or reason for a meet (like swapping parts without having to cross an International border) are compelling.

The Hill Country Chapter in Texas died for lack of interest about 3 years ago if I remember correctly. The Central Texas Chapter offered to take any members interested at no dues for the first year but had very few who responded. Members just quit attending even the lunch meetings and it was impossible to get participation for a tour. Sad day.

I miss the Northwest Montana Chapter based in Kalispell. Unfortunately, most of the founding members have long since passed, and there was little interest to continue on with it. In the 1980's they hosted an annual meet in mid-June at Woodland Park in Kalispell with a good turnout of cars.

The Maritimes Chapter operated from about 1980 to about 1984. It died when a couple of the executive moved and a couple of others felt they had done their share, and no one else would step up to organize events. The Atlantic Canada Chapter was organized in 1996 to cover the same area (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island) plus Newfoundland & Labrador, and has operated very successfully ever since. It's always a challenge to find enough new members to replace long-time members who have died.
Long travel distances also are a challenge.

I bet Ken & Shelly Zwicker were a major force behind its revival. They were charter members of the Foothills Chapter here in Calgary when it formed in 1979.

Our chapter Editors swapped newsletters with your Editors for the longest time. As I recall, it went back when Jo Sawatsky was Buffalo Chapter Editor back in the early 1980's.

I bet Ken & Shelly Zwicker were a major force behind its revival. They were charter members of the Foothills Chapter here in Calgary when it formed in 1979.

Definitely,they were, and are! Ken is now our Secretary, and Shelley is our Treasurer. They and our editor, Graham Gagné, deserve the credit for starting the Chapter. It had 27 members in its first year, 1996. In recent years it has averaged around 60.

It seems that there was a chapter in San Jose, CA back in the 70's. It may have merged with the Studebaker Owners Club, before that club folded.

The San Jose SDC chapter was absorbed by the Sequoia Chapter.

Just to let you know the Buffalo Chapter may be small but it still lives on .
