  • Gold plating a part

    I have a hood insert part from a 55 speedster hood molding that I want to have plated in gold finish . Can any member give me a source for gold plating ?

    Joe,
    Contact a local collision center in your area, they "usually" have somebody that comes in and does emblems and small parts, providing that it is already chrome plated, and "pitt free"

      Gold plating does not take well to cleaning and polishing. I have several pieces done on my Speedster and wished I had gone another way.

        Check into Rhodium plating....looks like gold but cheaper & more durable.

          Real gold plating may only be a few molecules thick. Thus it needs a clear protective coating to preserve it.

              Check SI catalog they have several small parts already plated.

                Several years ago I needed a few items gold plated for my Golden Hawk. I went to a place that specialized in church items. Worked great.
