During 1944 or thereabouts Studebaker offered 24x22 prints of the Superfortress for 10 cents to cover postage. Have you ever seen one?

Yes I have one plus the mailing tube. I can post a picture on the Studebaker Addicts Facebook page. I don't do pictures on the forum. Maybe someone else could.

I am not aware of the offer for the Super Fortress (B-29) but Studebaker did offer large colorful images of the B-17 Flying Fortress (for which they built the Wright Cyclone engines). There were four in the set as shown below. These were the same images used in numerous magazine ads of the period. Studebaker also offered a set of five large images of the 6 X 6 and 6 X 4 Hercules powered military truck. I have high resolution scans of both the B-17s and the trucks. The poster of the trucks is quite nice though I also have the individual set.

Yes,I have that 24x22 print of the B17 at dusk along with the original mailing tube with a 6 cents paid at Chicago stamping on the 6x6 Studebaker mailing label. Also enclosed is a 11"x 8.5" four page booklet of some wartime images. A nice package from those dark days.

If anyone has an extra poster, I'd be interested in buying it since I'm working on restoring a B-17 back to flying condition. I have several B-17 magazine ads but don't often see the posters. BTW, Studebaker also built the GE J47 jet engines for B-47 bombers at the Archer Way facility.

That's an ambitious undertaking Ed. My two larks will seem easy after hearing of your next restoration. Good luck my friend

As stated in my post #3 I have the images scanned in high resolution and it would be a fairly simple matter to have them replicated in the original 24 X 22 (or larger) size. If interested in pursuing this just send me an email at rtq11@aol.com Would need to know the size and the one or more the you prefer from the four shown. As for finding an original I believe the odds would be pretty long on that.

Richard; I would be interested in the B-17 print if you decide to do this. Jeff Cassel (jccatwb@gmail.com)

Actually there are four separate images. I placed them on a single sheet for convenience. I am attaching below two more below in the vertical format. Depending on the size with 11 X 17" average prices in the $15 - $20 range.

There is an event this week-end in Vacaville CA where a B-17 is flying in and will be on display from Friday thru Sunday. I plan to make it over if I don't forget. They are selling rides if you want to fork over a little over 400 bucks. If I make it, I'll get some pictures.

I have a 10x14 magazine ad for Studebaker's big military trucks that I imagine was from Life Magazine or something like that. In the bottom right corner of the page there is a promotion for the posters.
It says if you wish one, address Studebaker, South Bend, Indiana, enclosing 10 cents to cover mailing cost.

It was in my pile of "stuff to sell" but I think I now want to hang on to it! :o
