A/C brackets from LS1214

As requested, pics of the A/C brackets and idler pulley from LS1214. They seem to have been well thought out, well gusseted and of very substantial material. The one bracket with idler pulley mounted over the 4 bolt thermostat housing, the other on the passenger cylinder head. I have no idea what compressor had been used but back in the day it was probably a York.Let me know if anyone is interested.

I have heard, back in the 50s-60s, aftermarket AC installation facilities flourished. Many of them prided themselves on being able to adapt AC to anything with a motor. For example I have probably seen 10 different versions of AC on 56Js, and 56Js never came with AC so they were all aftermarket. Looks like yours is another example of ingenuity during that era. Where have all those creative geniuses gone?

I have heard one of our Stude AC gurus of the past was the creator of the AC kit, now produced by VA. I believe his name is/was, "Obon(?). Does anyone remember him? Whoever designed the VA kits, they did as well as any I have ever seen.

I have a couple after market V8 brackets that also mounted surrounding the thermostat housing. I always thought they were a better bracket than the original studebaker V8 brackets

Most of them I have seen attached to the thermostat housing one way or another. The kit I have on the 62GT, from VA, attaches the idler pulley mount to it. The idler pulley in ingeniously mounted adjacent to the PS pump.

Does ANYone make a Compressor mounting bracket that mounts to the driver side of the engine?...

I am not sure what that car is but there's a service bulitin for an AC unit for a 58 blown car and oviously for the LS Packard motors.
I have only seen a factory AC unit once on a Packard Hawk in America

The integrated ps and genny were on the right and compressor on the left. Sort of like Cadillac I was told

LS1214 UPDATE:

Ready to install in my '57 Clipper Wagon next fall(when I return to Arizona) in 4 bbl form with blower to follow later. She'll be thoroughly wrapped and mothballed and stored at a friend's until then. The Air Conditioning brackets shown earlier in post #1 are available for anyone wishing to A/C their Studebaker.

I saw a 57GH out in California with that setup, many years ago. But do not recall seeing one since. Musta been a rare option. Was first year for AC in GH anyway, with or without PS. I also saw the same setup, generator with rear mounted PS pump on a 57 Chevy once.

With as much room as there is in front of the stude motors I would think a guy could build a system like chevy that has everything on one large bracket and one belt and just go electric fan with out the big fan shroud.
