Body / Glass: 1955 Commander coupe door latch broken

My 1955 Commander coupe drivers door latch broke late in the fall, latch won't hold the door tight against the final latch point. Is there a fix other than replacing the latch? Got a latch out of a 1953 4 door looks alike but the release arm is too short so that went away. Too much to drill rivets and replace. Thanks for the help

Probably wouldn't hurt to replace the door 'striker' too! (they are usually quite worn)
