  • Interior: Wobbly accelerator pedal on 1948 Champion.

I've noticed that the accelerator pedal on my 1948 Champion wobbles a bit from side to side. Is that a normal thing on these cars. This is the first time on any car that I've ever driven, that the accelerator pedal wobbles.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Sergio

Your pedal hinge may be loose or worn out. I'm sure I saw new gas pedals for your car at SI when I was there a year ago.

Also check where it bolts to the floor, the attaching screws may have come loose and that would cause it to wobble.

It moves by itself with the Engine on acceleration, it is the Engine mounts that are shot.

Thank you ALL. I'll do some digging into this further, but I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a typical thing on the 1948 Studes.

          Thanks again,
          Sergio

Mine wobbles when the hinge goes bad. Fortunately, the Studebaker vendors have them either NOS or reproduced.
