  • 1940 Studebaker Bumper Guards - Information Needed

    Please see link:

It seems Studebaker was using bumpers with a different amount of flare out during the early 40's. IIRC the bumper used on the 1940 Champion is narrower??? than the bumper used in 1941 Champion. At one time I had a center grill guard with the three red chevrons that I tried to install on a 1941 Champion bumper and was not able to because the opening on the bumper guard was too narrow. With that in mind, does the bumper guards seen on the 1940 Commander work on the M-Series bumper? I believe they have the same pattern as the truck guards do, but do the bumpers have the same profile.

Yes, the bumper guards used on the 1940 Commander (10A) and President (6C) will fit the M5 bumper. In fact the front and rear bumpers on the M5 are identical and the same as that used on the front of the 10A and 6C (part #197489). The rear bumper on the 10A and 6C is the same contour the only difference being the location of the holes for the mounting brackets.
